Three recipes from the mud kitchen

Our chefs have opinions. Here are their most requested dishes, transcribed exactly as dictated.

A row of mud pies decorated with leaves and petals on a wooden shelf

The mud kitchen is the busiest restaurant in Fort Collins. These recipes were dictated by the Meadow Room and written down word for word.

Birthday cake (for a dinosaur)

“You need lots of mud and then you put sticks in for the candles. Then you sing. Then you don’t eat it.”

Soup

“Water. Leaves. Stir it for a long, long time. Add a rock for crunch.”

Pancakes

“Flat mud. Pat pat pat. Flip it with the big spoon. It breaks every time, that’s normal.”

We’ll be making real pancakes next month. Probably with fewer rocks.
